Job Purpose
Location: India
The individual will be responsible for preparing the layouts, designs and provisioning for Hawaiian Telcom circuits. The individual will interact with many groups including Wholesale and Retail Sales, Engineering, and Field Operations.
This individual is responsible for taking complete ownership of all aspects of circuit design to ensure accuracy, availability and efficient utilization of network and resources. The individual must display a balanced approach between day to day operations, managing work queues, managing projects, understanding the needs of internal and external customers, handling multiple escalations and priorities and understanding the team-s role in the company.
Essential Functions
Create circuit designs for special services circuits (including internal connections or trunk circuits) in Assignment Activation and Inventory Services - Design Services (AAIS-DS) and any other inventory repositories using any of the following technologies:
DWDM, SONET, SDH and TDM
FW9500 Packet ONP, ATM, MPLS and Ethernet
Traditional and soft switched networks
New technologies and/or platforms deployed in the network
Design network circuits for current and new projects using any of the following technologies:
DWDM, SONET, SDH and TDM
ATM, MPLS and Ethernet
Traditional and soft switched networks
New technologies and/or platforms deployed in the network
Copper analog E-M, DS0 and trunks
Perform network equipment investigations and identify/resolve problems to ensure proper installation
Ensure Kloudgin short cycle tasks are distributed to the appropriate parties
Responsible for writing internal and external documents and publications that describe new circuit architectures and designs for current and next gen products
Correct designs and records in a timely manner when discovered in the field or through the course of network investigations
Order plug-in cards via eProcurement as required
Experience/Background
2 to 3 years of experience
Minimum of four years- work experience in operations, engineering, or provisioning or combination of these
Two years Project management experience desired
Circuit design experience in the telecommunications industry highly desired
Working knowledge on performing network investigations helpful
Working knowledge in a variety of operational concepts, practices and procedures
Demonstrated work experience in a regulated environment
Work Environment
Daytime tour of duty; occasional scheduled night and weekend work
Subject to overtime and callout
Work may be performed in an enclosed area lacking windows
May require late hours and weekends to complete assignments and projects
Indoor work - exposed to indoor conditions, dust, noise, dirt, heat, various lighting conditions, etc.
Work may be performed a various locations under varying conditions
Physically able to safely operate a motor vehicle
Requires standing, sitting, lifting/carrying supplies and training materials up to 40 lbs. and reading paper documentation and electronic communications
Required to meet multiple priorities and project due dates. May require late hours and weekends to complete assignments and projects
